This is my first newsletter to you.Thank you for letting me be your president for the next two years. I am honored to serve, and I hope to lead our Club so that it continues its traditions of service to others, civic engagement, and offering members opportunities for learning and staying active, not to mention just being with each other and having fun. My general goals for the year are to increase membership, increase member involvement and continue bringing back some of the things we did before the shutdown. But much more im-portant is what you, the membership, want. This is your Club, and (within legal limits) it can become what you want. The literature and wellness interest groups that are currently functioning are not the only ones wecan have. If we want to start a new interest group, we can do that.
I want to tell you about three recent events that were not only positive but downright exciting. The first was the New York State convention of the General Federationof Women’s Clubs. We are part of a State-wide, national and international organization known as the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). This year, Carolyn Bennett, Joan Gavrilik, Lynne Lenhardt, Kathy Newkirk, Georgette Tefoe, Pamela Tindall-O’Brien, Anne Young and I went to the State GFWC Convention. I got to meet women from other GFWC clubs throughout the State and learned a lot. (Did you know we have a sister club in Clifton Park???)
